Punjab government recommendation regarding opening of universities
Recommendations have been prepared and sent to the federation for the phased opening of universities in Punjab. The final decision will be taken by Federal Minister Shafqat Mahmood after the meeting.
According to the details, recommendations were prepared for the phased opening of universities in Punjab. After consultation with all the Vice-Chancellors, the Punjab government prepared the recommendations.
Sources said that the universities will be opened according to the timeline, in which Masters, Ph.D. classes will be included in the first phase.
According to sources, the higher education department has prepared recommendations and sent them to the federation. The final decision on opening the universities will be taken by federal minister Shafqat Mahmood after the meeting.
It may be recalled that a conference of inter-provincial education ministers will be held on July 7 under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood. The conference will decide whether to open educational institutions or not.
It is believed that the government has formally informed the Higher Education Commission (HEC) about considering the decision to reopen the universities after July 15. Sources said that the government will not keep the universities closed anymore. HEC will formulate its policy in collaboration with universities.
According to sources, a meeting of VCs of universities was held under the chairmanship of HEC on the video link, in which they sought recommendations from universities. Universities will be opened with SOPs.
