Ulema should guide instead of protesting on construction of temple Says CII
The Islamic Ideological Council says that the issue of construction of a temple in Islamabad should be guided by the Ulema and religious scholars instead of protesting.
According to a statement issued by the Islamic Ideological Council, the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs has sought views on government funding for the proposed temple.
According to the statement, the council has been asked whether the government can build a place of worship for non-Muslims with government funds.
The statement said that Chairman Islamic Ideological Council Qibla Ayaz has directed the research department to formulate its opinion on this question as soon as possible and the matter would be taken up at the next meeting of the council’s higher body.
Chairman Islamic Ideological Council Qibla Ayaz has also requested the Ulema and religious scholars to guide the council instead of protesting on this important national and religious issue.
According to the statement, a high body meeting of the Islamic Ideological Council is expected in early September.
It may be recalled that the foundation stone of the temple was laid in Sector H-9 of Islamabad recently, however, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has stopped the construction of the temple without starting the approval of the plan.
