Arshad Malik will remain head of PIA for 3 years, approved by federal cabinet
The Federal Cabinet has approved the appointment of Air Marshal Arshad Malik, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), for a term of three years.
A meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which the overall economic and political situation of the country, including the corona virus epidemic and other issues were reviewed.
According to sources, the federal cabinet has approved Air Marshal Arshad Malik to hold the post of chief executive of PIA for three years.
After the Cabinet’s approval, Air Marshal Arshad Malik will remain the Chief Executive of PIA even after his retirement from the Pakistan Air Force.
It may be recalled that Air Marshal Arshad Malik is retiring from the Pakistan Air Force on July 12. He was approved by the Federal Cabinet to be the Chairman of PIA on October 11, 2018 and later on April 2, 2019 he was appointed as the CEO.
According to sources, the federal cabinet was also given a detailed briefing on the issue of pilots with dubious degrees and it was informed that pilots with fake and dubious degrees have been grounded and the matter is under investigation.
The federal cabinet has directed to complete the investigation into the suspicious degrees of pilots as soon as possible.
The Cabinet has postponed the matter of amending the Companies Act 2017 relating to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
