Iffat Omar's Aurat's March Brings Attention to Gender Pay Gap in Showbiz, With Mahira and Fawad's Salaries in Focus

The theme of this year’s Aurat March in Lahore was “Feminism in a Time of Crisis,” and organizers encouraged participants to create posters and signs highlighting related concerns. Prior to the march, the organizers issued a disclaimer outlining their zero-tolerance policy towards discriminatory or inflammatory placards, stating that they would not tolerate messages that promote violence or hate speech.

During the march, popular Pakistani actress Iffat Omar was seen on the streets of Lahore holding a sign advocating for equal pay and equal rights for women. Her placard read, “Why should women be paid only half of what they are owed for their work?” (Kaam pura tou ujrat aadhi kiun?)

One admirable trait of Iffat Omar is her consistent advocacy for women’s rights, and she often speaks out against injustices she sees. However, some people on social media have been criticizing the actress for her activism. These individuals believe that women should stay within the confines of their homes and that men and women are equal in the eyes of Islam.
