Kia Teases Niro EV and Stinger Launch in Pakistan

Kia Lucky Motors has teased the launch of two new vehicles, including the Kia Niro EV and Kia Stinger in Pakistan. In a video posted on social media, the company showed both vehicles, which have not been launched in Pakistan yet.

The caption read, “The excitement is right around the corner. Immerse yourself in the ultimate Kia experience. Coming soon near you.”, which hints at the possible launch of both the Kia Niro EV and the Kia Stinger in Pakistan in the coming weeks or months.

In a follow up post on Twitter, the company said, “Kia brings the ultimate experience by showcasing your favorite Kia cars in 4 major cities of Pakistan.” it added, “Featuring Kia Stringer and Kia Niro EV in an exclusive Premiere at dealerships near you.”

However, Kia Lucky Motors has not confirmed if it actually plans to launch these vehicles any time soon or maybe it is just displaying these cars to get fans excited about the brand. If it does plan on launching the Kia Niro EV and Kia Stinger in Pakistan, it may be a while because of the current economic conditions.

Although, Kia South Korea is going to discontinue to Stinger in the international market in April 2023, which makes Kia Lucky Motors a bit late if it actually plans to launch the vehicle in Pakistan. Meanwhile, Kia has launched new model of the Niro EV in other markets.

As per some reports, Kia Lucky Motors may end up launching both vehicles, but the Kia Stinger will likely be introduced as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit, while the Kia Niro EV is likely to be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

However, some believe that Kia Lucky Motors may not release the EV version of the Niro, but a variant with a conventional engine as it seems likely unlikely for the company to dive into the EV market in Pakistan.

Although, the launch of an EV may not be that far-fetched considering the government is opting towards introducing more energy conservation measures and it also announced the energy conservation plan today.

The vehicle comes with two powertrain options, including a single motor capable of producing 130 horsepower (hp) and 394 Newton-metres (Nm) of torque to the front wheels and a second option with a single electric motor that produces 201 hp and 394 Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the first variant comes with a 39.2 kWh battery pack that provides a range of up to 288 kilometers, while the second variant is equipped with a 64 kWh battery pack that allows the vehicle to go up to 385 kilometers on a single charge.

The vehicle, which will be discontinued by Kia in South Korea also comes with two different variants, which include, a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine producing 251 horsepower (hp) and 353 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque, while the second variant comes with a 3.3L twin-turbo V6 engine that makes 368 hp and 510 Nm of torque.

Both these variants are equipped with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Price

At this point, it is hard to guess the price of both, the Kia Niro EV and the Kia Stinger in Pakistan due to current economic conditions and constantly fluctuating currency rates. We are going to have to wait for more official announcements in this regard.
