Three Indian soldiers killed in Occupied Kashmir's avalanche




SRINAGAR: At least three Indian soldiers of 56 RR were killed after an avalanche hit their post in the north  of Occupied Kashmir’s Machil Kupwara sector.

Local media reports quoted officials as saying that a snow slide struck a patrol party in Machil Sector, after which a search rescue operations was launched.

Indian Defense Department spokesperson said “two soldiers stuck in the snow rescued and evacuated to Military Hospital Kupwara. Another soldier…was also evacuated to Military Hospital,”  adding that the soldiers did not survive.

The deceased were later identified as Mukesh Kumar, Gaikwad Lakshma Rao and Souvik Hazra.

It may be recalled that seven Indian Army personnel, who were part of a patrol team, were struck by an avalanche in the high-altitude area in the Kameng sector of Arunachal Pradesh on February 6. All of them were found dead during a search and rescue operation.
