Students' group clash over Pak-Eng T20WC Final




NEW DELHI: Two groups of students from Punjab’s Lajpat Rai College reportedly clashed with each other in Moga over England-Pakistan T20 cricket match that was played in Melbourne the other day.

According to reports gathered from Indian media as well as local sources, ttudents of Bihar and Indian occupied Kashmir studying in the Lala Lajpat Rai College, Moga fought with each other due to the T-20 match. Students of Bihar were celebrating the victory of England. However, students of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir opposed it which led to fighting among both groups.

MM News has learnt that the students from Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, opposing the celebration over England’s victory, were badly beaten by Bihari students.

The Station House Officer of local police station Jaswinder Singh told media that two groups of students clashed with each other at Lala Lajpat Rai College, and that they were seen pelting stones at each other, however, no sloganeering reported.

Other reports suggest two student groups from Bihar and Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) clashed during the T20 World Cup championship final match over a religious comment.  The Kashmiri Students Association became aware of the situation and said that they have spoken to SSP Moga and requested him to intervene in the matter.

The association of Kashmiri students said “we have Spoken to SSP Moga Punjab Gulneet S Khurana Ji; requested him to intervene in this matter and to take cognizance of such gory incident that happened in Moga With Kashmiri students. He has assured that action will be taken against involved people & 5 detained students will be released shortly.”
