Pregnant woman and her unborn child die after hospital shelled in Ukraine

KYIV: A pregnant woman who was wounded in the Russian bombing of a Ukrainian maternity hospital has died along with her unborn child.

According to foreign media, the woman was brought to the Mariupol  Hospital for delivery, meanwhile, an explosion took place in the hospital and the woman was also badly affected in the incident. An attempt was made to transfer the woman from the hospital in such critical condition, however, both mother and unborn child could not be saved. 

According to doctors, the woman’s hip was broken in the blast, and part of the pelvis was also badly affected. When the chances of a safe birth were low, an operation was attempted and the baby died, while the mother died shortly afterward.

The hospital management said that the details of the woman were not recorded due to the blast and the family members took away the body of the woman and the child after the incident.
