Islamophobic film The Kashmir Files called out for ‘stealing’ Faiz Ahmad Faiz’s poetry

Bollywood newly released propaganda film The Kashmir Files has been a big hit in cinemas. Within days after its release, it has raked in million of rupees at the box office.
Following its screening, a number of disturbing anti-Muslims videos have gone viral. The anti-Muslim hate speeches and sloganeering have made their way to the theatres.

In a video, which has been widely circulating on social media, someone in the theatre can be seen calling for killing of “traitors of the nation.” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has openly praised the propaganda movie, The Kashmir Files.
The makers of the film have been called out for falsifying facts, aimed at widening prejudice against Muslims. In the last few years, anti-Muslim films have taken over Bollywood. Just recently, Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi was also criticised for the same.
Surprisingly, despite the ban on Pakistani artistes in India, Bollywood cannot stop stealing Pakistani music. Singers like Jubin Nautiyal have made careers out of their renditions of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s songs.
The Kashmir Files also features Hum Dekhenge by Faiz Ahmad Faiz, which has been called out by netizens. A twitter user wrote that India steals everything from poetry and music to lands.
That’s Faiz’s poetry. Y’all steal poetry, music, land and pretty much everything. Shame. pic.twitter.com/9fPnwyxr0U

Here’s what others have to say:
Intellectual theft of Faiz Ahmed Faiz sahab’s poetry. Someone from the Faiz family and/ or @GovtofPakistan should file for copyright takedown and legal notice against unauthorised use of content.
