Netizens roast Sahir Lodhi for trying to correct Jaun Elia’s couplet out of his own ignorance [VIDEO]
Sahir Lodhi has previously come under fire for the insulting way he treats contestants on his show, Ishq Ramazan. This year History is repeating itself as netizens are angry at the show host once again for being unfairly rude to a contestant. However, this time things have gone far as many social media users are demanding the involvement of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

In a recent episode of Ishq Ramazan, during the segment Andaaz-e-bayan (a poetry stand-off), two contestants were competing in the semi-finals. One of the contestants narrated a verse by John Elia, and Sahir Lodhi started questioning the accuracy of the verse.
Even the judges voiced doubts about whether the stanza was correct and whether it was the work of Urdu poet John Elia. However, rather than confirming the verse’s accuracy via the internet and clearing the air, they spent over a minute trying to strong-arm the contestant, pushing him to explain, ‘What does that even mean?’
While others might have moved past the criticism, the critique took a massive toll on the young contestant, as this was the competition’s semi-final. The whole ordeal affected the contestant’s performance review even though he was not in the wrong.
Sahir Lodhi was rather rude towards the young contestant. One Twitter user even called the host’s treatment bullying. Netizens started posting about the incident and called for PEMRA’s involvement in the matter.
Here’s what the Twitterati have to say about the incident:
The majority called for PEMRA to take action:
Bullying is crime. Even hamari universities me kai teachers b es sy “mrhzooz” hoty hain.
I guess Urdu isn’t contestants mother tongue but he’s right. Even judges aren’t aware of the verses.

Public complaints like these against immoral content usually attract PEMRA to take action. However, only time will tell what the watchdog decides to do about the rude behavior of hosts with contestants on live shows.
