Sindh Education Department Announces Closure of Schools
Government of Sindh (School Education and Literacy Department) has announced the closure of government and private schools all over the Sindh from grade ECE (early childhood education) to grade 8 with effect from April 6, 2021 to April 21, 2021. It has been said in the tweet by Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani that education will continue through online classes, homework or from other resources. All physical activity in the schools has been banned. The homework will be given to the students in the form of assignments through whtsapp or emails or in person on weekly basis in strict compliance with SOPs while the teachers will attend their institutions regularly for the homework assignments.
Private Schools Association
This decision has been made due to spike in coronavirus cases in the various cities of Sindh. However, this decision has been rejected by Private Schools Association as they are demanding complete lockdown for closure of educational institutions. Association also states that several teachers are facing the issue of unemployment due to this closure of schools and millions of children still did not return to schools which is a serious issue regarding literacy rate of the children and their future.
