Higher Education Commission Invites Research Proposals Under Grand Challenge Fund
The higher education commission has invited the research proposals under the grand challenge fund. The faculty members of public and private universities are eligible to submit the proposals. Grand challenge fund is the key element of higher education development. The project is supported by World Bank and implemented by the higher education commission of Pakistan. GCF is aimed to promote research excellence in the various sectors of the economy. Funds are provided to the selected institutions based on merit and transparent evaluation. Multidimensional projects are supported by the grand challenge fund and it promotes the areas of national interest. The amount of funding GCF awards is Rs 15-225 million and the duration of the project is a maximum of three years.
Applicant Eligibility
Following is the applicant eligibility criteria that should be met by the candidates.
- The lead principal investigator must be university faculty members from a research-intensive institution as notified for the grand challenge fund.
- The project team may include the consortia of faculty members from multiple university departments/ universities or private sector participants particularly when they bring prior IP or capability to the consortium or significant deployment, implementation, or scale-up capacity.
- For the international partners, the international collaborations are encouraged when international partner brings a unique added value to the project team.
Submission Procedure
The candidates have to submit the online application form along with the required documents through the web portal of the higher education commission. The documents must be submitted by PI and head of ORICs/ head of research at respective HEI.
Deadline For Project Submission
The deadline for the submission of the project is 23rd May 2021. The proposals received after the last date will not be accepted by the authorities so the interested candidates are notified to fulfill the mentioned requirements before the due date.
