Education Minister Issues Directives To Close Schools In Coronavirus Hotspot Areas




The punjab education minister, Murad Raas has issued the directives to immediately close down the public and private schools in the coronavirus hotspot areas. The announcement has been made on his official Twitter account. The government has taken this decision due to the upsurge in the number of coronavirus cases. Earlier the education minister had announced that the classes for the students of grades 9 to 12 will be resumed in the various districts such as Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, TTSingh, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, RYK, and DG Khan. The educational institutes remain closed for an extended time period and afterward, the government announced to hold the physical classes of the students of matric and intermediate on Mondays and Thursdays.

Statement of Murad Raas

According to the statement of Murad Raas schools will remain closed in Okara, Jhang, Khanewal & Bhakkar in addition to the above-mentioned districts. The public and private schools will be shut down with immediate effect due to COVID-19. Moreover, all the remaining districts education authorities shall continue to operate as usual subject to observe SOPs in this regard. The minister has advised the students to follow the precautionary measures to minimize the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. 

SSC and HSSC Annual Exams 2021

The federal minister for education and professional training has announced that the SSC and HSSC annual exams 2021 will be held according to the issued schedule. The minister further clarified that the students will not be promoted to the next class without appearing in the annual exams 2021. As per the schedule, the annual exams of matric and intermediate will be conducted from 25th May 2021 and 3rd July 2021 respectively. The date sheet for the exams will be announced soon for all Punjab Boards by the Punjab boards committee of chairpersons.
