Associations Of Private Schools Protested Against Closure Of Educational Institutes
The associations of private schools protested against the closure of the educational institutes outside the assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa. The meeting of the national command and operation center was held on 24th March 2021 in which the provincial education ministers and health ministers participated. After the meeting, the federal education minister for education and professional training, Shafqat Mahmood had announced that the educational institutes in the coronavirus hotpots areas will remain closed till 11th April 2021 due to upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases.
Protest Against Government’s Decision
To protest against the decision of closure of educational institutes the protestors chanted the slogans. The representatives of various private schools associations participated and raised their voices and demanded to reopen the schools across the province. It has been said that despite following the SOPs government directed to close the educational institutes for an extended time period. Moreover, the representatives also said that if the schools will not be reopened then the private education sector will be destroyed.
Closure of KP Schools
Earlier the KP government had closed the schools in the six districts due to COVID-19. According to the directives issued by the government schools in, Shangla, Dir Upper, Haripur, Abbottabad, Khyber, and Bajaur will remain closed till 11th April 2021. The KP education minister had made this announcement and said that schools will not be allowed to call the students during the closure time period however the teachers and the staff members have to come to school for the preparation of coursework for the online classes and for assigning the homework. Strict SOPs will be followed by the school authorities to control the spread of coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, despite the closure, the students have been paying the fee to the elite schools whereas the schools established in the streets have exempted the students from fee submission.
