NCOC To Review The Decision Regarding Reopening Of Educational Institutes On 24th March




The federal minister for education and professional training has announced that the meeting of the national command and operation center will be held on 24th March 2021 to review the decision regarding the reopening of the educational institutes. The education minister took his Twitter and issued the statement that the decision will be taken by considering the ongoing situation of the coronavirus and the provincial education ministers will put forward their recommendations to reopen the institutes or to extend the closure of the educational institutes for few more days. He has warned the people about the third wave of the pandemic and asked everyone to be careful and follow the SOPs as the wave is serious. The minister further added that the health of the students and teachers is a primary consideration for the federal government. The meeting of NCOC will be chaired by Shafqat Mahmood and all the provincial ministers for education and health ministers will also attend the meeting. 

Closure of Educational Institutes

Due to the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic earlier it was announced that educational institutes in the various areas of Punjab will remain closed from 15th March 2021 to 28th March 2021. The NCOC meeting was held on 10th March in which the decision had been taken to shut down the public and private schools, colleges, and universities due to the upsurge in the number of coronavirus cases. Moreover, as per the statement issued by the education minister, the institutes of Islamabad and Peshawar have been shut down for two weeks. 

Decision By NCOC

Shafqat Mahmood has said that government officials are continuously monitoring the situation of the pandemic. The COVID-19 is under control in Balochistan and Sindh so the educational institutes in both these provinces will follow the policy of 50% attendance. It is pertinent to mention here that the decision about the extension in the closure of the institutes will be based on facts.
