Turkish President congratulates Turkish nation on discovery of vast gas reserves
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has congratulated the nation on the discovery of vast underground gas reserves.
Recently, the Turkish President announced to give good news to the nation after Friday prayers and yesterday he offered prayers at the Sultan Mosque.
Before offering the prayers, he reached the grave of the Companion of the Holy Prophet, Hazrat Ayub Ansari and offered Fateha.
Addressing the nation after Friday prayers, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced that vast reserves of natural gas have been discovered in the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey.
He said that on July 20th, the winning ship in the Black Sea discovered vast reserves of 320 billion cubic meters of gas during drilling in the Tuna One zone.
The President said that the use of this local gas will be started by 2023.
He added that more gas reserves are likely to be found in the Black Sea region and that the newly discovered reserves are only a fraction of the treasures there.
After the announcement of the Turkish President, people took to the streets and expressed their happiness.
On the other hand, Turkish officials say that the gas reserves found in Turkey are estimated at 65 billion dollars and if no more reserves are found, they will be able to meet the country’s needs for 7 to 8 years.
It should be noted that Turkey relies on Russia and Iran for natural gas and oil, which leads to high foreign exchange costs.
