Sugar Crisis Inquiry Commission summons Asad Omar
Sugar Crisis Inquiry Commission summons Asad Omar
The commission investigating the Sugar crisis has summoned Federal Planning Minister Asad Omar.
According to sources, Asad Omar will appear before the inquiry Commission on Tuesday and the sugar crisis inquiry Commission will record Asad Omar’s statement.
The commission will ask Asad Omar about sugar exports and Asad Omar’s position on sugar subsidies.
Earlier, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had also appeared before the commission and recorded his statement.
The commission should not call the Prime Minister but me said Asad Umar
Federal Minister for Planning Asad Omar himself had requested to appear before the Commission of Inquiry.
In his tweet, the Federal Minister said that former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has demanded that Prime Minister Imran Khan and I be summoned to the Commission of Inquiry.
“The decision on sugar was taken by the cabinet on the recommendation of the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC). If there is any question, it should be asked from me and not from the prime minister,” he said.

“The commission is requested that I must be summoned,” he said.
It may be recalled that recently the senior vice president of PML-N Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had said that the report of the Sugar Commission was not satisfactory till the Prime Minister is not summoned.
