Sindh Corona Relief Ordinance passed, no one will be fired from Job.
The Sindh Cabinet has approved the ‘Sindh Covid-19 Emergency Relief Ordinance 2020’ under which no one will be fired in the province and low water, electricity and gas bills will not be charged.
Addressing a press conference after the cabinet meeting, Sindh government spokesman Murtaza Wahab said that the cabinet today approved two draft laws which include increase in fines and covid-19 emergency relief ordinance.
Murtaza Wahab said that under the Corona Ordinance, no one will be fired and those earning less than Rs 50,000 will be paid full pay while educational institutions will be able to charge 80 percent fees.
According to the Sindh government spokesman, under the ordinance, rent will not be charged from tenants less than Rs 50,000, while those who have more than 50 will have to pay the remaining amount later and widows or weak people will have to pay rent if they own a house or shop.
Murtaza Wahab said that a decision has also been taken regarding utility bills and low level bills for water, electricity and gas will not be taken.
He said that Sindh government wants to provide facilities to the people in terms of electricity and gas but the federal government does not want that, the federal government should provide relief on electricity and gas across the country.
The Sindh government spokesman said that under the second ordinance, those who hoard and increase prices will be fined up to Rs 1 million. Both the ordinances will be sent to the Governor of Sindh today and the ordinance will come into force after the approval of the Governor.
He added that Sindh cabinet members have decided not to take salaries till June 2020.
On the occasion, Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said that the federal government has cut down funds while the province’s own revenue has also been decreased.
