Shafqat Mehmood takes notice of fee hikes by universities
Federal minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood has taken notice of Fee hikes by LUMS and other private universities.
He has said that 41% increase in fee by LUMS is totally unacceptable and beyond comprehension and it needs to be revised as soon as possible.
He said that LUMS is the leading university and it needs to work for the relief of students in this hour of need instead of burdening them.
His took it to his twitter and expressed it in detail.
His tweets read,
“I have seen reports that LUMS has increased its fee by 41%. If true, this is unacceptable. LUMS is a premier educational institution of the country and needs to take lead in giving relief to students rather then burdening them and their parents even further. Needs revision ”
” SC has given a formula for annual 5 to 8% increase in school fees. Universities may have different compulsions and may need a somewhat greater increase but a sudden 41% increase by LUMS is beyond comprehension. Management needs to reconsider”
Student in comments section highly praised his tweets and said that at least, there is some one who took notice and spoke on the issue .
