For the First time Britain appoints Hijab-clad woman as a judge.

For the first time in Britain, a woman in hijab has won the post of judge.

Rafia Arshad, 40, of Leeds, is the first female judge in British history to be appointed deputy district judge in the Midlands.

In an interview to a British newspaper, Rafia Arshad said that she had dreamed of becoming a judge at the age of 11. During the interview at the Law College, her family had asked her to take off her hijab but she refused.

Rafia Arshad expressed hope that now more hijab-wearing women will have the opportunity to come forward in this field as well.

Rafia is a mother of three and has been practicing law for 17 years.
