80% mosques in Punjab and Islamabad, Are Not Following SOPs for Taraweeh.

In 80% of the mosques in Punjab and the federal capital Islamabad, the agreement signed between the government and the Ulema on Taraweeh is not being implemented.

According to a survey by the NGO Pattan, 194 mosques in 15 cities were surveyed during Taraweeh.

According to the survey results, 96% of Taraweeh prayers were being offered on sidewalks and roads outside mosques, while 89% of worshipers were not wearing masks.

The survey also revealed that in most mosques, the worshipers did not keep a distance of 6 feet from each other and continued to perform ablutions in the mosques instead of coming from home.

In addition, two-thirds of the mosques surveyed were seen having  children with elders, but large and central mosques were seen following agreement.

It may be recalled that after a 20-point agreement with the scholars of President Arif Alvi, the federal government relaxed the lockdown in Ramadan and gave conditional permission for congregational prayers and Taraweeh in mosques.

However, the Sindh government has allowed only the mosque administration to offer congregational prayers and Taraweeh prayers in the mosque to prevent the spread of the corona virus.
